New Features and Important Changes in GammaLib 1.0.0 Author(s) : Juergen Knoedlseder 18 December 2015 1. Introduction --------------- This document briefly summarizes module by module the most important changes made since the last release of GammaLib. 2. Public interface modifications --------------------------------- Remove optional extname arguments from the following classes: - GEbounds - GEnergies - GGti - GNodeArray - GCTAPointing - GMWLObservation - GMWLSpectrum 3. Configuration ----------------- The __init__.py file in the pyext/gammalib folder is now only created during build but not during the install. This should avoid problems during installation related to file access rights (#1569). A special post processing of the Python module libraries has been added for Mac OS X 10.11 and higher (El Capitan). This post processing is a replacement for setting DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH during unit testing since the environment variable is ignored in certain circumstances by El Capitan. Any errors that occur during the post processing will be ignored. 4. Application module --------------------- None 5. Base module -------------- None 6. FITS I/O Interface --------------------- None 7. Linear algebra module ------------------------ None 8. Model module --------------- Added GModel::has_ts() method that signals if a TS value has been computed for a given model. 9. Numerics module ------------------ None 10. Observation module ---------------------- None 11. Optimization module ----------------------- None 12. Sky module -------------- Remove the following methods from GSkyRegions as we have not identified a use case where this access is needed (#1564): * set(std::string, GSkyRegion) * insert(std::string, GSkyRegion) * remove(std::string) * operator[](std::string) * contains(std::string) * get_index(std::string) The Python extension GSkyMap::__getitem__ now checks the validity of the index and map number and throws an out_of_range exception if the parameters are not valid. This is required on some platforms to properly catch the end in iterations (#1581). 13. Support module ------------------ The gammalib::expand_env() function now handles ~, ~user, ~+ and ~- following the logic implemented for the bash shell. The GFilename class has been added to deal with filenames in the future. This class handles the decomposition of the string into a filename and an extension name in the cfitsio style, allowing to specify the extension name, number and version. 14. XML module -------------- None 15. VO module ------------- None 16. Xspec module ---------------- None 17. Test module --------------- None 18. Multi-wavelength interface ------------------------------ None 19. Fermi-LAT interface ---------------------- None 20. CTA interface ----------------- The IRF loaders now check the existence of the file before loading, and now throws appropriate error messages in case that the files do not exist (#1586). Only manadatory columns are read by GCTAEventsList, while any other columns will only be stored for back writing in a FITS file. 21. COMPTEL interface --------------------- None
