…or the observation Python module. The classname() method returns in a human readable format the class name. This method is needed for full automatic typecasting in Python. Full automatic typecasting has for the moment been implemented for the observation module.

The GCTAResponse::nedisp method has been implemented and tested. A corresponding unit test has been added to the CTA Python test script test_CTA.py. To support this method, GCTAResponse::ebounds_src and GCTAEdispPerfTable::ebounds_src and GCTAEdispPerfTable::ebounds_obs methods have been implemented. The ebounds_src method returns the true energy boundaries of the energy dispersion for a given observed event energy. The boundaries are defined by 5 times the Gaussian sigma value. The ebounds_obs method returns the observed event energy boundaries of the energy dispersion for a given true photon energy. Again, a boundary of 5 times the Gaussian sigma value is used.

The energy integration has been implemented in the GModelSky::integrate_energy method. For that purpose, the GModelSky::edisp_kern class has been added to GModelSky that provides the kernel for the integration. The GResponse::src_ebounds method has been added to determine the true energy boundaries for a given observed event energy. The method is virtual in GResponse and always throws a "feature not implemented" exception. The method has then also been implemented in GCTAResponse to provide the true energy boundaries.

This change was prompted by the addition of the ctobssim option to apply energy dispersion. Even if an instrument has an energy dispersion, it is useful to be able to apply it or not. So the meaning now is roughly this: use_edisp = (has_edisp && apply_edisp) although the apply_edisp flag has so far been only added to GCTAResponse, use_edisp = False. GResponse::has_tdisp() was also renamed to GResponse::use_tdisp() for consistency.

The coding and design conventions (CDC) document was also updated.
-
The GFunction::eval interface has been revised and all affected GammaLib classes have been adapted.
-
Add GChatter argument to print() method. The print() method now takes an argument of type GChatter to control the chattiness of the output in a homogenous manner. Pass NORMAL chatter level in __str__ method. Add chatter argument to print() methods. Use GLog::chatter() method to control the chattiness of the log stream operator. Add chatter() methods and provide member access through const references. Add chatter() methods, provide member access through const references, and declare one liners as inline methods. The chatter() methods control the new m_chatter attribute that is used to control the chattiness of the object's print() methods. name() and version() methods return const references. logFileOpen() method now sets the chattiness from the applications's chatter parameter, and name() and version() methods now return a const reference.
-
The eval() and eval_gradients() methods now take a GPhoton object as argument to allow the implementation of energy and time dependent source morphologies. GEnergy and GTime objects have been added to the mc() method interface to support equally the implementation of energy and time dependent source morphologies. So far, no class really implements energy and time dependent source morphologies, but now we have the infrastructure to do so.
-
Renamed irf_extended to ird_radial and npred_extended to npred_radial. Renamed also the radial kernel integration methods to npred_radial_kern_theta and npred_radial_kern_phi. Handle properly different spatial model components: point source, radial source, elliptical source, diffuse source.
-
Instead of using the observed and true attributes of the event and photon as arguments, the event and photon is now passed directly. This provides a more general interface, and event and photon attributes can be easily added.
-
The ostream and GLog functions are now implement on the GBase level.
