New Features and Important Changes in ctools 1.3.1
11 July 2017
Introduction
------------
This document briefly summarizes the changes that have been made in this
ctools release with respect to the precedent release.
Configuration
-------------
None
Python interface
----------------
None
Support model
-------------
None
ctobssim - CTA observation simulation
-------------------------------------
The working log file pointer is now correctly forwarded to
ctobssim::set_mc_id_names() which avoids exceptions when running the
tool under OpenMP (#2123).
ctselect - CTA event selection
------------------------------
None
ctbin - CTA event binning
-------------------------
None
ctlike - Maximum likelihood fitting
-----------------------------------
None
cttsmap - Generation of Test Statistic map
------------------------------------------
None
ctskymap - CTA sky mapping
--------------------------
None
ctmodel - CTA counts cube modelling
-----------------------------------
The efficiency of the model computation has been improved and OpenMP is
now used to parallelize the model computation (#2147).
ctexpcube - CTA exposure cube generation
----------------------------------------
None
ctpsfcube - CTA point spread function cube generation
-----------------------------------------------------
None
ctedispcube - CTA energy dispersion cube generation
---------------------------------------------------
None
ctbkgcube - CTA background cube generation
------------------------------------------
The XML file created echoed the instruments that were found in the
input XML file but this created some problems when using ctmodel on
data created with ctobssim which always generates CTA data. A clean
fix of the problem requires a proper handling of the TELESCOP keywords
in all classes that read event and IRF information. For the moment a
quick fix is to add all possible VHE instruments as attribute to the
XML file (#2140).
ctmapcube - CTA map cube generation
-----------------------------------
None
ctcubemask - CTA cube filtering
-------------------------------
None
ctbutterfly - Generate butterfly diagrams
-----------------------------------------
None
ctulimit - Compute upper limit
------------------------------
None
cterror - Likelihood profile error computation
----------------------------------------------
None
ctprob - Event probability computation
--------------------------------------
None
ctphase - Event phase computation
---------------------------------
None
cscripts
--------
The csobsselect script now accepts an observation container upon construction.
The standard deviation computation in cssrcdetect has been corrected.
The csroot2caldb script now uses the MigMatrixNoTheta2cut_offaxis and
AngularPSF2DEtrue_offaxis ROOT histograms to compute the energy dispersion matrix
and the PSF shape (#2135).
The csresmap threw an exception for the SIGNIFICANCE method when the model map
contained zero entries. This has been fixed now by properly handling the case of
zero entries (#2136).
A call to self.logFileOpen() has been added to the cstsmapsplit.execute() method
so that a log file is written when the script is executed (#2127).
